We all know that if you have breast cancer, the earlier you find out about it and get treatment the better. Because we don’t yet have a breast health policy in South Africa, many women are not being properly screened for breast cancer and are certainly not getting regular mammograms.
Even if you are among the lucky few who are having annual checkups, the best way to catch the cancer early is to do monthly self-examinations of your breasts. Get into the HABIT of doing it a few days after your period ends if you are still menstruating. It could save your life!
So how do you do an self-examination?

STEP 1: Begin by looking at your breasts in the mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips.
